What is your favourite destination (and why)?
I guess that it would be the world :) We’ve visited many amazing places, with all their own charm. Curaçao has a special place in our hearts, this is where we got infected with the travel bug. We love this Caribbean island, we are a big fan of tropical islands.
What is your best travel memory?
That's a hard one! We have been travelling for so long, and have so many great memories. We have been in Australia for 2 years in total, and we loved to road trip through the outback. The first year we had a van, beautifully spray painted by us, and we drove the Oodnadatta track. It's a 600km gravel road, with a small town/road house every 200km. You drive literally in the middle of nowhere and there is hardly any traffic, I think we saw maybe 2 cars each day. An awesome experience, also at night, when there are millions of stars in the deep dark sky.
Another special memory is from Fiji. A friend from home visited us there and we were driving around the main island the first few days. We planned on going to a bed and breakfast that we found in Lonely Planet, but it was hard to find. When we finally arrived, and asked for accommodation, it seemed that they had forgotten that they even had a bed and breakfast! Luckily, we were able to stay and in the evening the host family played board games with us. They were so kind and it was a unique experience to meet the locals! We had more moments like this on the mainland and we definitely recommend that you drive around when visiting, instead of directly going to the other islands and skipping the mainland.
What is the weirdest thing you’ve experienced during your travels?
That happened in Las Vegas, where else?! It was our second visit, and we were taking some photos at the 'Welcome to Las Vegas' sign. Because we had our camera and a tripod out, we were asked by some kind of crazy guy, a filmmaker, to help him with some shots with his GoPro. It was a funny guy, the kind you only meet in the USA. A bit later when we were walking back to the strip we saw him again, next to a pink Cadillac from a fake Elvis. Now our filmmaker friend was doing a fire spitting show to take some shots with Elvis and his car! It was so random. So funny what kind of people you run into in Las Vegas!
What is your favorite picture on your feed and what’s the story behind it?
That's a recent one. It's the one from us dancing on top of our van during sunset at 90 mile beach in the North of New Zealand. We visited Cape Reinga and driving back down we wanted to drive over the 90 mile beach. We camped at an entrance of the beach at a place called Bluff. We really wanted to take some awesome shots with our van on the beach, and it worked out so well! We had so much fun like you can see in the picture!
Where does your inspiration come from?
Manon has been into photography since she was a kid. She has pictures of herself at a young age, already running around with a camera. So that's where the photography comes from. We both had the desire to travel before we met. Manon was going for an internship to Curaçao. So that's where Bram went too after he finished his studies! We had a great time there and went for an amazing roadtrip in the US afterwards. We went back home and were so happy to see everyone again. But that happiness didn't last long. We had all these new experiences and back home, it felt like it never had happened, it was the usual as always. We wanted to go again! Since then we travel as much as possible!
Which country has the best food?
We love to be away from the Netherlands, to see other cultures and everything, but when it comes to food, we are still 100% Dutchies! I guess everybody will tell us we are crazy, but a 'frikandel special' is something we miss a lot during our travels, and we regularly make ourselves some 'stamppot', but without the 'Unox Rookworst'.
If you had to migrate to another country for a year, where would it be?
We are really thinking to emigrate, but we still haven't figured out exactly where. We’ve spent a year in Australia twice with a working holiday visa, we love the country and it's weather. Now we are in New Zealand for over 4 months, and (don't tell the Aussies) we like it even more over here! If we had to choose a place where we could emigrate for a year now it would be somewhere on a tropical island!
If you could go back in time and visit any city or country in another time period, when and where would you go?
We would love to go to South Africa back in 2010, during the World Cup football! Although we are not big football fans, during a European Cup or a World Cup, we go crazy like all the rest of the Dutchies. All the squares in the Netherlands were filled with people in orange, having an amazing time, and we even reached the finals! How cool would it have been to be there in South Africa!
Where or when do you use your TRONO the most?
When we are at a beach, or somewhere we like to chill out, like when we went swimming at a waterfall, it's so comfortable and easy to take with you!
What is the best travel advice you want to give?
The best thing of traveling is to be free. So when you go, don't let anyone tell you where you should go or what you should have done in that place you visited, just do what you like to do!
